Dirtnasty By Thomas Scherer
Here we have our boy Thomas and his timeless 1985 Toyota pickup.
To properly showcase this build, Thomas has written this exhibit in its entirety:
Hi everyone. This my 1985 Toyota pickup, AKA “DirtNasty”. I picked this little truck up about 5 years ago knowing it was going to be a project. At the time, I had only planned on going with a 1UZ Toyota V8 but decided if I was going to do this I wanted to go BIG.
So instead, I picked up a twin turbo 1jzgte Non-VVTI to throw in. I also grabbed a CD009 trans to go with it. I’m using the Colins Garage JZ to CD trans adapter along with their billet flywheel and stage 3 clutch kit
This truck has been a frame off “resto-mod” you can call it. We stripped everything down and made it look like new underneath. There are no longer leaf springs or torsion bars on the truck. It is now sitting on custom QA1 Promastar coilovers in all 4 corners, along with a triangular 4 link in the rear.
Motor wise, I’m running BC 272 cams, adjustable cam gears and their spring and retainer kit. It’s a 68mm turbo with Garrett internals and CxRacing manifold. For fuel we are running pump 93 for now, but am capable of running e85.
I’m using ID 700cc injectors, radium top fill fuel rail. For engine management, I’m using Haltech Elite 2000 with a WiringSpecialties custom harness and Haltech IC7 dash. It’s currently on the schedule to get tuned at National Speed in Wilmington, NC sometime this May.
My power goals are 500-550 right now! Thanks for checking out my truck! You can follow my Instagram @jz_rn50 to see more!
This is so sick Thomas! Thanks for a dope submission. We absolutely love this build. Everyone make sure to show Thomas some love on Instagram by clicking one of the images above.
