Aleksey’s BMW 540i
Some car builds are born out of pure passion, and Aleksey's 1999 BMW 540i is a testament to that.
Since childhood, the E39 BMW had always been Aleksey's dream car. In 2022, that dream became a reality when he stumbled upon a low-mileage 540i previously owned by an elderly couple. This car had been their Sunday drive, and after the original owner passed away, it sat untouched in a small town for a decade. With only 127,000 kilometers on the odometer, the car was in mint condition yet felt abandoned. Every button and every cupholder worked perfectly. Despite pine needles and spiderwebs, it still had that old German smell and ran smoothly when fired up. Aleksey knew this was his E39.
Over the next year and a half, Aleksey transformed the car into a masterpiece. What started as a car covered in dust and memories became a vibrant, modernized version of its former self. The 540i now turns heads and garners admiration wherever it goes.
Aleksey's 1999 BMW 540i boasts an impressive array of modifications that enhance both its performance and aesthetics. The exterior features a complete facelift with all OEM parts, Hella Euro-spec headlights, Hella clear taillights, and Morimoto XB LED foglights. The car also sports M5 autofold mirrors, aggressive front and rear diffusers, BBS RK 002 18x8.5 rims with Indy500 255/40/18 tires, and an Orafol dark red supergloss vinyl wrap, resembling Imola Red.
Inside, Aleksey has upgraded the interior with a DBcarparts steering wheel and dipped carbon-fiber trim, an E38 rear-view mirror with a compass, a Euro arm-rest, and an Id4motion digital cluster. The car also features an Xtrons radio/navigation/CarPlay unit, a BavSound complete speaker upgrade, a JBL BassPro Hub subwoofer and amp, and complete interior and trunk sound deadening.
Performance-wise, the 540i has undergone a full powertrain refresh and service. It now includes a Turner full intake with a 4” MAF, a Turner 84mm throttle body, a non-VANOS intake manifold with velocity stacks, and a Stage III DUDMD tune. Aleksey has also installed a custom exhaust system and completed a suspension rebuild with Lemförder parts and ST coilovers.
Aleksey's journey with his 1999 BMW 540i is far from over. His dedication to maintaining and enhancing his dream car ensures that it will continue to evolve. The blend of nostalgic charm and modern performance keeps this E39 a standout build in the car community.
