Aj’s WRX

For many car enthusiasts, owning a specific car is a lifelong dream. This is certainly true for AJ and his 2006 Subaru WRX.

Ever since he was a kid, AJ dreamed of owning a Hawkeye WRX, especially the STI model. In mid-2023, with his open license just a few months away, AJ decided to sell his 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer, which he had modified with a full Evo X body kit and custom dual exit exhaust. The hunt for the WRX STI began. Despite the high prices of STIs, AJ didn't give up and eventually came across a WRX that caught his eye. The car had many of the modifications he wanted, including fender flares, an EJ257 semi-built STI block, and a 6-speed transmission known for handling high power. AJ bought it on the spot and immediately started working on it to turn his dream into reality.

AJ's 2006 Subaru WRX is a powerhouse, boasting 330whp and 400Nm of torque at 20psi on 98 octane fuel. The car is equipped with a Blouch Dominator 2.5XTR turbo, an Invidia up-pipe, a 3-inch catless custom downpipe, and a Tomei catback exhaust. It also features a Grimmspeed electronic boost control, a Process West front mount intercooler, a 3-inch custom intake with a K&N filter, TGV deletes, a Turbosmart blow-off valve, and a Turbosmart fuel pressure regulator. The fuel system includes a Walbro 255 fuel pump and 1000cc injectors.

The engine setup includes an EJ257 short block with forged Wiseco pistons, race series main bearings, race series con rod bearings, RCM 11mm head studs, an STI oil pump, and a Killer B oil pickup. The car's drivetrain is upgraded with a 6-speed gearbox, a Cobb short shifter, a Perrin pitch stop mount, and a heavy-duty clutch. For improved handling, AJ has installed Whiteline sway bars and MCA coilovers.

AJ's WRX stands out with its aggressive and stylish exterior. It features a Voltex front bumper, CS style side skirts and rear pods, a 22B style STI wing, an STI roof spoiler, ABW flares, and Mars Performance MP-MS wheels in 18x9.5 +30, powder coated in whiskey bronze. The car also has spacers in the front and rear, C style headlights, and a Carbonetics carbon fiber vented hood. The exterior modifications not only enhance the car's appearance but also improve its aerodynamics and performance.

Inside, AJ's WRX is equipped with OEM STI seats for added comfort and support. The car also features a Cusco oil catch can to keep the engine bay clean and a short shifter for more precise gear changes. The combination of performance and comfort makes AJ's WRX a joy to drive on both the street and the track.
